The Metanoia Approach
During the execution of projects vast challenges are expected occur as getting from design to building is never an easy endeavour. In trying to deliver on the main constraints (Time, Cost and Quality) in project management, things can get complicated throwing off the project into dalliances. One of the strategic approaches introduced to navigate through challenging projects at ProCM is the Metanoia Approach.In February 2025 PROCM Pty Ltd introduced ‘Metanoia’ as the fifth core value to drive projects with purpose.

What is Metanoia?
Metanoia is simply “choosing to think differently”. ProCM defines it as the courage to rethink, realign and renew. This fundamental change transcends through the mind, heart and life orientation.
Why Metanoia?
Metanoia allows any challenging situation to be viewed anew again. It makes a person dig deep inside to look for an answer and forces growth.
How with Metanoia?
The metanoia approach is adopted to manage challenging projects by integrating the meaning of metanoia and its purpose into the project.
Metanoia approach is integrated into projects through the following 3R’s: Rethink, Realign and Renew.
If you cannot run away from a problem, you either sit and wait to be saved or think out of the box. The rethink process allows any challenges faced to be an opportunity to accept the challenges, change in character and to reflect on the problem. This allows new perspective and thus finding new ways into solving any problem, even if it still fails. In driving progress onsite discussions of the schedule programme with the whole team gives the team a set-goal in mind to drive from.
When faced with parts of the project that managers or coordinators are not well vexed in, learning becomes important. ProCM promotes and supports professional development and trainings to ensure the success of the projects.
Realignment is necessary to refocus on the end goal of a project. This means drawing down again on the delivarables and objective of the project. In instances where small wins towards milestones on a critical path is achieved, why not celebrate. This helps to enthusiastically reflect on the success and refocus better on other areas towards completion.
Another key factor in realignment is staying inspired by keeping yourself up. In the era of social media, there are many success stories to draw strength from. These adventures can be used for betterment.
In times where one feels mentally drained, rest and recuperate as part of realigning is encouraged at ProCM to promote work-life balance.
Transformation begins in the mind and is expressed through actions. To meet the requirements of a renewed mind, one has to lead by example (Walk the Talk) and intentionally engaging in meaningful conversations. ProCM promotes mentorship and coaching sessions to allow improvement in skills, performance and behavior.
Leading by example is personally meeting the expectation you have towards others. This is shown through by simply being on time to safety and progress meetings. Or logging earlier into online meetings.
Lastly conquer mindset by eliminating negative thinking through being assertive and responsible. Engage stakeholders with what seems to be impossible to resolve, there is always someone who might know how to assist.
Purpose of Metanoia
The purpose of metanoia is to bring about change and growth. Application of the 3R’s is the bases for accomplishing metanoia approach. The rethinking approach forces mental growth and change in character thus changing the perspective. In the changed perspective choosing to realise small wins reduces stresses and makes one look forward to what lies ahead. Applying rethinking and realignment translates to a renewed you.
An evolved person always brings about fresh ideas without worrying about failures in project. With a clear mind one is able to turn any challenge into opportunities.
